BioForge poster
There’s something profoundly human about the cover of BioForge, despite its seemingly undeniable presence of metal, pain, and mutation.
Released in 1995 by Origin Systems label, the game was one of the most daring experiments of its time: a cinematic full 3D adventure, when textured 3D was still an experiment. Yet its visual and conceptual impact remains powerful—so much so that its packaging is one of the most evocative of the DOS era.
A disturbing image, yet perfectly consistent with the game’s themes: the reconstruction of body and mind after mutilation, the loss of identity, the relationship between man and machine.
Today, that cover is an artifact, and like many digital artifacts, it suffers from time: the versions circulating online are often poorly scanned, faded, or compressed. Reconstructing it in high definition means restoring its original strength—that sense of mystery and unease that made your gaze linger on store shelves.
